Houston has specialized medical facilities in nearly all of the main medical fields, so it makes sense that emergency care would be no different. Since the early 2000s, freestanding emergency care centers have popped up all over the Houston area, providing the same emergency medical care as a hospital but in most cases with a fraction of the wait time. Take a look at some of the major facilities in Houston and learn a bit about the care that they offer.
— TEXAS EMERGENCY CARE CENTER
Open in Houston since 2006, Texas Emergency Care Center (TECC) (www.txercare.com) offers two convenient locations: Atascosita, just north of the city in Humble, Texas; and Pearland just south of the city. Although providing the services and care equal to those found in a hospital ER, TECC has a different feel with a comfortable, family-friendly environment and wait times that average less than 20 minutes. Setting the standard for freestanding emergency rooms, TECC physicians more than experienced in emergency medicine, it’s their passion, which leads to a high level of care and personalized attention. Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, TECC has a full-service in-house laboratory, x-ray, ultrasound imaging, CT scanning and cardiac monitoring. Best of all TECC accepts more than 100 health care provider plans and most private insurance plans as well. In July 2016, TECC joined ER Centers of America in becoming part of Family ER + Urgent Care but is still committed to the same level of emergency service all in one place.
— ELITE CARE
Considered “the new standard in 24-hour emergency care,” Elite Care is a 24-hour emergency room in Rice Village that provides all the services of a traditional hospital emergency room but with short wait times, convenient and clean locations and superior service for all Inner Loop neighborhoods. With total emergency care, services, equipment and board-certified doctors on hand around the clock, patients are guaranteed VIP service, free and easy parking, ER physicians, lab testing and results in 21 minutes or less, an onsite radiology department for CT and x-ray results, onsite pharmacy services, rapid discharge and direct admissions to inpatient hospital services if needed. Elite Care also accepts all major insurances, including AETNA, BCBS and Humana, but not Medicare, Medicaid or Tricare.
