Located on Galveston Island, Shriners Hospitals for Children–Galveston (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org) is part of a one-of-a-kind health care system that has been dedicated to improving children’s lives since 1922. Entering the burn care field in 1966, Shriners Hospitals for Children–Galveston provides highly specialized acute, reconstructive and rehabilitative care for children with burns and other soft tissue conditions and has been designated as a verified pediatric burn care center by the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. Because of the work of the cutting-edge clinical care, research and education of the world-class physicians, clinicians and researchers at Shriners and their commitment to providing advanced burn care and treatment to children, today patients with burns on up to 90 percent of their body can survive and lead full, productive lives.
