Spring ISD
The Spring Independent School District serves nearly 37,000 pre-kindergarten through twelfth-grade students in a diverse and growing district located 20 miles north of downtown Houston.

Since Superintendent Dr. Rodney E. Watson joined the district in July 2014 he has focused on developing Spring ISD’s new five-year strategic plan. He immediately began gathering input from the community and other stakeholders through a listening tour and the development of several advisory groups, including a new student advisory board.

Those voices can be heard in the new vision, mission, guiding principles and Springway core values that highlight the importance of the district being focused on students and grounded in community partnerships. The new vision states: Spring Independent School District will be a district of choice known for high quality academics with innovative and specialized programs that meet the needs of all students in a positive learning environment.

Spring ISD’s instructional approach allows for all students to excel academically, socially and in extracurricular activities. Curricula used districtwide reflects the district’s belief in literacy as the foundation of academic success. That foundation is woven through core subject areas including math, science, language arts and social studies. Additionally, the district offers instructional services to every learner. Academic acceleration and enrichment are available for the gifted and talented, while special education services are provided for students with disabilities. Bilingual instruction and English as a Second Language education programs are available for students who require assistance while learning the English language. Early education is also available for students through half-day programs at every elementary campus.

The district has enjoyed a long history of success in the fine arts with groups and individuals being recognized with regional, state and national honors. Athletic programs also allow students to build character. Students are able to compete in a variety of UIL sports including men’s and women’s basketball, football, baseball, volleyball, soccer and tennis.

The district’s 37 campuses include 18 schools constructed during the last decade and numerous renovations, which ensure that learning takes place in secure, technologically advanced and well-maintained facilities that offer 21st century learning opportunities. The campuses include three comprehensive high schools classified as 6A, an early college academy, and a high-school career academy where students take courses aligned with their career interests. In addition, the district has six middle schools serving grades six through eight; one middle school of choice that focuses on math, science and fine arts; and 25 pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade elementary schools.
