Texas Chiropractic College
Founded in 1908, Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) is the fourth oldest chiropractic college in the country. The college is located in Pasadena, Texas, a part of the Greater Houston Metropolitan area. TCC provides qualified students a comprehensive course of professional instruction in the basic and clinical sciences and in chiropractic clinical practice leading to the degree of Doctor of Chiropractic (DC). TCC??s unique program prepares students to become integral members of the primary health care team. Students have multiple opportunities to garner hands-on-experience in a variety of clinical environments during their final year. Student-doctors are interns at the Moody Health Center (MHC), TCC??s on-campus clinic, working with six attending DCs and having the opportunity to interact with an MD who houses his practice at the MHC. TCC student-doctors with an interest in sports medicine additionally have an opportunity to participate in a new, unique program. In the fall of 2008, TCC entered into an agreement with one of the area??s NCAA Division I athletics programs to treat the school??s student-athletes twice a week. This program offers students hands-on experience with the day-to-day physical health issues of high-level, competitive athletes. In addition to working at the MHC and the athletics program, student-doctors also have the opportunity to participate in a one of a kind experience: TCC??s integrative hospital rotations program. This program allows student-doctors to apply their chiropractic education to co-managing patient care with their allopathic colleagues in areas such as orthopedics, neurology, pain management, and internal medicine. Participants gain valuable insight and knowledge of conditions, learning which can be treated with chiropractic and which with surgery. Not just focused on their studies, TCC students also take advantage of the many community volunteer and social activities provided in the Greater Houston area. Students regularly participate in the Pasadena Strawberry Festival, the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, and the Houston Marathon. Operating within the highest levels of professionalism, TCC is committed to serving the needs of its students, the chiropractic profession, and the public through leadership, research, patient care, and service activities.
